Oxygen gas is now used extensively to ensure the oxygen needed for fish growth are always met. Traditionally oxygen is injected into the water by blowing air via an air blower in the pond also called aeration. As air contains 20.9% oxygen, this oxygen gets into the water and increases the DO level but this method takes a lot of time and uses a high amount of electricity. O2 generators have now become an ideal alternative for fish farmers. These systems produce oxygen with a concentration of 93%, which is injected into the water via diffusers. As the oxygen content in the product gas produced by the PSA system is almost 4.5 times of air, the DO level increases faster and consumes less electricity.
Key Applications
Increase and Maintain DO Levels
Oxygen is injected into water to maintain healthy dissolved oxygen levels. It improves fish health, growth rate, and reduces mortality.
Challenges
Maintaining adequate dissolved oxygen levels
Reducing electricity consumption compared to traditional aeration
