PSA Industrial Nitrogen Generator for Manufacturing Plants – nGEN by Absstem

Absstem’s nGEN is a PSA (Pressure Swing Adsorption) based on-site industrial nitrogen generator built for manufacturing plants that require continuous, high-purity nitrogen without cylinder or liquid nitrogen dependency. Unlike packaged machines, nGEN is delivered as a fully engineered, installed, and commissioned PSA nitrogen system – supplying nitrogen directly to your production lines at the required purity, pressure, and flow. nGEN is trusted across laser cutting, food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, electronics, oil and gas, chemical processing, tyre manufacturing, 3D printing, and power plant applications – wherever nitrogen quality and uptime directly impact product performance and cost. For smaller applications 1 to 100 Nm³/hr with fast plug-and-play installation and minimal civil work, see nGENX – Absstem’s compact PSA nitrogen generator for SMEs and space-constrained manufacturing facilities.

What is a PSA Industrial Nitrogen Generator?

A PSA industrial nitrogen generator produces nitrogen on-site from atmospheric air using Carbon Molecular Sieves (CMS). CMS selectively adsorbs oxygen by kinetic diffusion, allowing nitrogen to pass through at 95%–99.9995% purity. The system runs continuously on electricity alone – no cylinder deliveries, no liquid nitrogen, no PESO storage licence required. Absstem’s nGEN delivers PSA nitrogen at 5 to 3,000 Nm³/hr (Higher Flow Ranges available on custom models). nGEN is built for medium to large manufacturing plants needing 100 Nm³/hr and above. If your nitrogen requirement is below 100 Nm³/hr with plug-and-play setup, see nGENX – Absstem’s compact nitrogen generator for SMEs – instead.

How a PSA Nitrogen Generator Works

Carbon Molecular Sieve (CMS) – Technology Behind nGENX

The Carbon Molecular Sieve is the core separation medium in every PSA nitrogen generator. CMS is a specially engineered form of activated carbon with a precisely controlled pore size distribution that enables it to separate oxygen from nitrogen by kinetic selectivity.

How CMS works: Under pressure, oxygen molecules (smaller, faster diffusing) preferentially enter CMS micropores and are retained. Nitrogen molecules (larger, slower diffusing) pass through the void spaces as product gas. When the CMS bed becomes saturated with oxygen, pressure is reduced (the ‘swing’), oxygen desorbs and vents to atmosphere, and the CMS bed regenerates – ready for the next adsorption cycle.

CMS performance determines maximum achievable purity (95%–99.90%), energy consumption (air-to-nitrogen ratio), and long-term operating cost. Absstem’s nGENX uses premium-grade CMS with optimised pore structure for India’s operating conditions. Absstem backs nGENX with a 10-year sieve warranty – The first Indian industrial PSA Nitrogen manufacturer that provides this.

The efficiency of the Nitrogen Plant is calculated based on the Air-to-Nitrogen Ratio. The better the efficiency, the lower the air-to-Nitrogen ratio. Through continuous R&D, Absstem commits to the best air-to-nitrogen ratio in the industry.

No other Indian PSA nitrogen competitor publicly commits to a 10-year CMS warranty.
